Urban planning study by Leopold Bauer in 1918 for the 9th district, on the site that was to be created after the demolition of the old General Hospital, Military  Hospital No. 1 and the Officers' Hospital were to be built around Bauer's newly constructed Austro-Hungarian Bank, of which only the rear printing building was built, today's National Bank (shown in purple), while the actual bank palace and the surrounding new quarter were not realized due to the collapse of the monarchy (the location of the courtyards of the Old General Hospital, today's university campus, is shown in red for orientation). All parts under monumental protection, including the Narrenturm, were to be demolished; only the Josephinum would have remained of the historic buildings.
